Workaround is to sync Outlook with Mac native calendar, contacts (in Outlook got to Preferences and Sync services. Once you have them on your Mac you can setup sync with iCloud. I have a business 365 account that sync's email, contact and calendar with my iPad, iPhone and Mac using the Outlook apps. I have an Outlook.com account that sync's email, contacts and calendar with my iPad and iPhone but does not sync contacts and calendar with my Mac. It is my understanding that Outlook for Mac will not sync Outlook.com's contacts or calendar due format incompatibility.

I heard that Outlook.com accounts would be converted to Exchange this spring, not sure if this is true, but I am hoping that this will allow me to sync contacts and calendar with my Mac (Outlook for Mac) I decided to try and open a personal Office 365 account which I now have but when I try to add a new Exchange account using my Outlook.com email in Outlook for Mac, it does not add it. (I get a message but cannot remember exactly what it said) So, I guess my question is, will Outlook.com be switching to Exchange? If so, will I need to keep the personal 365 account? Also, will the switch to Exchange allow for syncing of contacts and calendar with Outlook for Mac? Thanks in advance for any information. I have always been perplexed by this: Outlook for Mac bears the same basic name as Outlook.com, and yet there is no way to sync the two. Outlook for the PC does sync Outlook.com, but that doesn't help me at all.

Here's something that might help: If you can sync your Outlook.com calendar to Google Calendar, Google Calendar can now (or will soon) sync to Outlook for Mac 2016 (as I understand it). Here's a link to that topic: So Outlook for Mac can now sync to a competitor's product, but not its own. As for a fix to this situation, dare I say, the Outlook is bleak.
